The points calculation is on the 4th tab of the spreadsheet. Check with the Region Director to verify that your club's Conservation activity qualifies.

When your club has accumulated a minimum of 50 points, send the results to the Region Director.

Each club must have 50 points or more accumulated and filed with the Region Director by the end of a calendar year. This qualifies your club to send a team to the Top 6 State Championship the following year.

6/5/2010: Choke Canyon Results

Kevin Mason with Onalaska Bass Club takes the last event of the 2010 SE Region tournament trail at Choke Canyon. He had a five fish limit that weighed 18.24# with a 6.86# kicker. On most other lakes a 6.86# would have put you in the big bass money.

Second place went to the 2009 & 2010 Angler of the Year, Albert Collins with the Nacogdoches Bass Club. Albert had a limit that went 17.15# and a 10.47# kicker. One would have expected to win the big bass pot with a 10.47#, right? But not at Choke Canyon.

Third place went to Cory Fontenot with the Magnolia Tomball Bass Club. Cory had three solid fish that tipped the scales at 16.10#, the biggest of which was 9.62#. And guess what, that 9.62# fish was fourth place on the big bass list.

So who was the big bass winner? And how big was the fish?

When Ed Caskey with American Anglers stepped to the scales, he had two fish in his bag and placed seventh in the tournament. Yes that's right just two fish!! "Twelve pounds even, there's your big bass winner folks..." was how Assistant Region Director and Emcee Jay Miller put it. Yeah, big bass of the tournament, big bass of the year and probably biggest bass ever caught at a Southeast Region tournament event. CONGRATULATIONS Ed!!

Albert Collins did take second place big bass with that 10.47# fish and we were all surprised he got beat in that category. The fact that he didn't get big bass was a little easier to take when the Angler of the Year was announced. Congratulations Albert on being not only the 2010 Angler of the Year, but also the 2009 AOY. I think all will agree that consistency of that caliber deserves reward.
